Prayer is meant to carry us
When God brought Stone to Flesh into our lives, we had been praying and seeking God about what was next for us as a family and as ministers. Brian and I had young children, and another on the way! Although we had a lot on our plate, we still found ourselves hungry for more of Him. As we were discerning how to move forward with a clearer vision for raising a family while still serving God, we stumbled upon the Stone To Flesh Community— And what a gift it was! We found in Stone to Flesh a community of believers and a family to worship and serve with that fit right into the vision He was calling our family too.
Some of our favorite times at Stone to Flesh have been opening our home to other married couples for our community dinners, prayers, and the Alpha Marriage Course. We enjoyed not just receiving as a family but serving other families as well. We also enjoyed learning and growing with other students and community members at the school!
One of the most impactful and inspiring moments for me (though It’s very difficult to narrow down just one!!) was hearing the teaching on Lectio Divina and how and why we should pray Liturgy of the Hours. I became aware of how prayer is meant to carry us throughout our day and lift our eyes and keep us grounded in truth. I remember thinking “we can walk through our day remaining connected to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit habitually!” I was inspired during the Stone To Flesh Lectio Divina course when I heard the phrase, “If you don’t think you receive anything from the Holy Spirit or feel different...don’t give up. It could take another day, another week, a month, a year, or YEARS.” That gave me permission to wait. In a world where everything was so quick, and reactions and emotions are so high, being given permission to just sit and wait in my prayer time was so vital for me. It has carried me on to where I am now with God.
We thank God for the opportunity to continue to serve and be a part of this wonderful community!
