Weekly Stone to Flesh Community tribe prayer meeting.

We have to taste heaven if we want to be sent out and preach the One above and not ourselves.

Through singing Lectio Divina (Worship with the Word) we are entering into the rhythm of the Father's heart and through Intercession we prophetically proclaim His love, promises and grace. Chanting Morning Prayer unites us with the whole Body of Christ and in Mass we give thanks, we are being mystically transformed, united with the Trinity and sent out anointed as priests, prophets and kings. This is where our missionary lifestyle starts.

GRIT is a Life Group for Men.

GRIT is about not giving up, creating a space for brotherhood, mentoring and spiritual friendships for all men, single and married who are willing to go up the hill and undertake the most critical journey in their life: philosophers and theologians, baseball and football fans, poets who love jazz and coach potatoes who binge on Netflix action movies.

You don't have to be a committed Catholic to attend but you need to be willing to listen and to hang out. You do not have to be a part of Stone to Flesh School of the Heart or Community to participate.

We are planning to meet monthly. Bring some food and/or drink, man. It's never enough.  Bring your Bible if you have one, and your conscience.

IMPACT is series of three monthly meet-ups (July - Sept.) which are all about realizing what is our mission in life.

Community Dinner: AZUSA

community-dinner.jpg

Community Dinners are counter-cultural to the plague of loneliness. We are all connected yet do not belong. We all crave to know others and to be known yet we lack spaces and times where the casual and intimate conversation may happen.

It is also a great way to learn about what Stone to Flesh Community is all about and how can you get plugged in. We want to connect with you personally and start with listening to your story!

Our local Stone to Flesh community dinners are centered on gathering 10 - 30 people (kids including) where all we 'do' is listening, sharing, resting, recharging and chilling. People in the reasonable distance from the Community Dinner location are gathering together for an evening of common meal (potluck style) and conversation, ending with short prayer. No specific agenda other than cooking/eating, fellowship around the table/back yard, having fun together. Candlelight, pizza or barbecue... music, dancing or discussions - it's up to you! So bring your fam and friends to celebrate life together!

CAFE, CAFE Solo & GRIT: Feminine Genius

FALL' 18: Feminine Genius

Holy Spirit, bestowing life unto life,
moving in All.
You are the root of all creatures,
washing away all impurity,
scouring guilt,
and anointing wounds.
Thus you are luminous and praiseworthy, Life,
awakening, and re-awakening all that is.
- Hildegard von Bingen (12th century)

Unpacking the myths and truths about feminine genius can go sour quickly if we cling to unredeemed ideas of who God is and how our identity is shaped by this understanding. We would like to understand and immerse ourselves in the process of being transformed by the Holy Spirit, on His terms, and walk awakened to the movement of His breath after sleepless nights, when the kids are sick, when we want to stay in present moment because trusting seems too much to bare, in the days of triumphs and small victories. We want to live awakened.

We are starting our CAFE and CAFE SOLO Fall season with a session of film screening, discussion, praise and worship and ministry time:

COST: $15 (Registration closes Aug. 24)

AT THE DOOR: $20

5:45 The doors open

6:00 Refreshments and conversations

6:15 "What is Feminine Genius?" Intro

6:35 Speaking to Sparrows film screening.

'Speaking to Sparrows' is a documentary film about women finding courage to confront the uncomfortable. The film brings to light the issues facing women in today’s world and creates space for the difficult conversations. It is these conversations that are a light in the darkness, and can lead to sisterhood, belonging and healing.

7:35 Testimony

7:40 Discussion Groups: CAFE, CAFE SOLO, GRIT

8:20 Ministry Time with praise and worship

8:45 Announcements and refreshemnts

9:00 The end

FAQ

1. Why do you think men should attend a viewing of a movie portraying women's issues?

Because 50% of humans are female.

2. What is CAFE?

We are a tribe of women participating or related to the Stone to Flesh School of the Heart who want to walk fiercely in the Father's love, submitting to the movements of the Holy Spirit and submerging our hearts in the mercy of Jesus. Through prayer, sharing intimately about our dreams and the reality, supporting each other's paths and sinking deeper into the creeds of our faith, we want to bring back the sense of wonder, wisdom and creativity to the world robbed of passionate love. We are foremost beloved daughters of the Father, and only from there we identify ourselves also as leaders, moms, creatives, wives, entrepreneurs, healers, visionaries and missionary disciples. We dream that no Catholic woman will feel alone, unsupported or isolated in her life. Learn more

3. Will babysitting be available?

Not for this opening session to CAFE meet-ups.

4. I am not able to pay, is there a volunteering option in exchange for the fee?

Yes! Contact iwona@majorchange.org

FALL' 18: Feminine Genius

Holy Spirit, bestowing life unto life,
moving in All.
You are the root of all creatures,
washing away all impurity,
scouring guilt,
and anointing wounds.
Thus you are luminous and praiseworthy, Life,
awakening, and re-awakening all that is.
- Hildegard von Bingen (12th century)

Unpacking the myths and truths about feminine genius can go sour quickly if we cling to unredeemed ideas of who God is and how our identity is shaped by this understanding. We would like to understand and immerse ourselves in the process of being transformed by the Holy Spirit, on His terms, and walk awakened to the movement of His breath after sleepless nights, when the kids are sick, when we want to stay in present moment because trusting seems too much to bare, in the days of triumphs and small victories. We want to live awakened.

9:50 Arrive

10:00 Brunch and conversations

10:30 Introduction to the topic and discussion

11:15 Sharing and prayer ministry

12:00 The end

CAFE SOLO: The Dating Project

IMG_8786.JPG

Singles of all ages wonder why it’s so hard to meet, date and marry today. In fact, fifty percent of America is single and fewer people are committing to marriage, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014. Dating has been replaced by “hooking up” and “hanging out,” making the traditional days of “courtship” obsolete. Or, has it?

A few years ago, one of the most popular professors of Philosophy at Boston College, Kerry Cronin, noticed this decreased dating trend among her undergrad students.  “And I thought, ‘Well, this is crazy.’  So I started asking students to go on what I refer to as ‘traditional dates’ as part of an extra-credit assignment.” However, the act of going on a date was more complicated than she thought.  A combination of the prevalent “hook up” culture, as well as the preferred method of social interaction (texting) had all but obliterated skills of basic social interaction. And, so THE DATING PROJECT began, and her class quickly became one of the most popular courses at Boston College. THE DATING PROJECT film follows Professor Cronin and five modern-day singles (ages 20 – 40) in their own quest to find authentic love and meaningful relationships.

Why are we doing it? Because we long for frequent real life connection, sisterhood, support and breakthroughs in our daily lives. Because exchanging of opinions is not enough. Because inspiration without digging deep and praying through issues is not enough. Because we long for the fullness of Jesus’ reward to be poured out NOW. He died so we can live and we want to breath His Spirit into our circumstances, families and our destiny.

Heartbeat - Saturday: Leadership

Heartbeat-Sat.-Jan-13.jpg
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
— Gal 6:9

Our last Heartbeat Saturday in this season!

Is leadership about the grit, passion, resources, intellectual capacities, talents, gifts, emotional balance, maturity, directness, personality traits, virtues? What's the difference between management and leadership? Does everyone have a potential for leadership? How to cultivate a life where leadership skills can flourish and be exercised? What is Christian leadership? What kind of leaders were the saints? How to build leadership teams in faith communities? Am I a leader, a follower or part of a passive opposition? What possibilities and opportunities of development do lay Catholic leaders have in the apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, pastoral and teaching ministries? What does it take to pioneer a Catholic lay ministry?

9:00 Prayer, praise and worship, testimonies

9:30 Leadership: Risk and the Anointing - Dr. Johannes Hartl (via web)

10:15 Coffee Break

10:30 Leadership in Team Building and ministry time - Iwona Bednarz-Major

11:15 Team building practicum

12:00 Lunch break

JH-MEHR-I-600x600.jpeg

Johannes Hartl has a burning heart to communicate Gods fascination and beauty in an electrifying way. He was born in 1979, is a Doctor of Catholic Theology and has earned his degrees in German Language and Literature Studies, as well as Philosophy. In 2005 together with his wife he founded the House of Prayer Augsburg. Since 2011 the House of Prayer has not ceased praying and worshipping God by day and night, 24/7. The events of the House of Prayer Augsburg are visited by the thousands. He is also the author of numerous books and an internationally beloved speaker at conferences, known for his way to connect spiritual depth with a sense of humor, intellect and practicability. Together with his wife Jutta and their four children, Johannes lives in Augsburg.

CaFe: In the Image of God (Week 6)

cafe-series.jpg

Bring your engagement photo(s)!

We are starting six week series called IN THE IMAGE OF GOD where we will explore the dynamic of man-woman relationship, the meaning of love and marriage. During each week we will watch beautiful and engaging short films HUMANUM as the intro to our discussions and times of prayer. HUMANUM series were made for the Vatican's colloquium under the title “Humanum: The Complementarity of Man and Woman”.

9:45 Arrive and situate the kids
10:00 Brunch, conversations and short film “The Destiny of Humanity: On the Meaning of Marriage” (18 min). The ancient, organic, and timeless design of man and woman has been revered across all cultures throughout human history. There is a singular wisdom and beauty of this complementarity that “fits” with the universe. The family, founded on marriage, is our first school in what it means to be human, how to love, to seek communion with and be a gift to another person: man for woman, and woman for man. This relationship between man and woman—including their sexual union and its fruits—is the very “grammar” of society.
10:30 Intro to the topic, discussion
11:15 Prayer and ministry time
11:45 Announcements
12:00 The end

Childcare will be available for a fee: $10 per one child and $15 for two kids. Please, register your child(ren) ONCE for the whole series and indicate the dates you need childcare for:

Brunch: feel free (no pressure) to bring a simple dish to share:

We are a tribe of women participating or related to the Stone to Flesh School of the Heart who want to walk fiercely in the Father's love, submitting to the movements of the Holy Spirit and submerging our hearts in the mercy of Jesus. CAFE SOLO: Heart breakers

What can break a heart? Is my heart broken? How can it be healed, mended, restored? Why do I feel or not feel as others? When will someone love me? How do I navigate relationships with authenticity? Is there anything wrong with my feelings? I was abused and it numbed me. How do I recover and enter into Love that is creative, resurrecting and engaging freely and without the fear of being rejected? These and many more topics will be our focus for the three first meet-ups for CaFe SoLo (CaFe stands for Catholic feminist and SoLo for so loved).

Adoration and Via Lucis

Image-1 (2).jpg

PARKING: The best idea is to park by the Seal Beach pier or along Main Street and walk to the church (5-10 min). Parking at the church is very small and will be occupied by wedding rehearsal guests taking place in the parish hall (not church).

Stone to Flesh School of the Heart is hosting an evening of Adoration with prophetic, extravagant (means: total in dedication and abandonment) praise and worship, silence, Taize chants, prayer ministry (healing, deliverance, prophetic).

7:15 Doors open

7:30 Adoration (Taize chants, prophetic praise and worship, ministry time, singing Lectio Divina)

8:30 Via Lucis (Way of Light) from the church to the Seal Beach

10:00 End at the Seal Beach

Via Lucis (The Way of Light also called The Stations of the Resurrection) is the proclamation of the risen Jesus on the streets. As the Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross bring us to Jesus suffering, Via Lucis follows the Scriptures describing all events after Resurrection leading to the Pentecost, it is a meditation of the primary fact of our faith: Jesus' resurrection from which the world's history has changed forever.

The procession is led by a Paschal Candle and each person will walk with a small candle. Each of the 14 stations of Via Lucis will have a Scriptural reading and spontaneous prayer/singing time.

Walking distance: 0.8 mile

What to bring? Water, sweatshirt (it's windy).

Parking: Church parking lot will be full.

Park by the pier or on the Main Street and walk to the church.

What does it mean to live in a community of believers who take seriously the example of the early Church and follow the great examples of the Church throughout centuries, living in the world but not of the world? What kind of leadership, relationships, charisms, prayers, time, tensions, stages of development will you experience if you decide to pursue life in an authentic community? How do we receive the vision from the Lord? Is it all about creativity and collaboration, networking and projects? How much of my personal life should be committed to a community of believers and its mission? How do we create a communal life's rhythm and pursue the heart of God in all we do? Why 'busyness' is a lie and the requirement for total metanoia is the beginning of all progress in living in a community? Can we have a Catholic community beyond parish? How do we relate to parish which seems to be stagnant? How does a parish look when it becomes a community of communities? What kind of people are ready to enter and serve in a community? Do we need a rule, money, clergy, buildings, plans? What roles do lay apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers play in a Catholic ecclesial community? How can we transform from programs and events oriented groups to communities operating in the power and love of God?

Like countless others Philippe, Michel, Andre and Patrick were labeled 'idiots', locked away and forgotten in violent asylums, until the 1960s, when the young philosopher Jean Vanier took a stand and secured their release - the first time in history that anyone had beaten the system. Together they created L'Arche, a commune at the edge of a beautiful forest near Paris. A quiet revolution was born. Now in his 80s, still at L'Arche and revered by some as a living saint, Jean has discovered something that most of us have forgotten - what it is to be human, to be foolish, and to be happy.

SUMMER IN THE FOREST invite us to abandon the rat race and forge new friendships. Amid the ancient trees, Philippe, Patrick, Jean and the others welcome us into their lives. If there are rules to break, they will be broken and if there is a truth to be told, they will tell it. Michel reveals his war torn past, Andre is desperate for a date, and young David will prove himself a hero in the fight against the forces of evil.

CaFe: In the Image of God (Week 5)

cafe-series.jpg

Read more HERE.
