You don’t have a willpower problem. You have an appetite that’s been asked to do too much.

This work is about healing emotional eating without shame, restriction, or food obsession, using the wisdom of Hildegard of Bingen, modern functional health science, and a deeply Catholic understanding of the human person.

We will not fight hunger. We will learn to listen to it. We will recognize that appetite is not a flaw but information. And when appetite is understood, order returns. When order returns, peace follows.

When eating is about more than food, control will never be the answer. Emotional eating is not a failure of discipline but a sign of fatigue in the body, the nervous system, and the soul. Drawing from Hildegard’s vision of viriditas (the greening power of life - vitality) and modern research on stress, appetite, and regulation, this work restores harmony at the table not through rules, but through truth. No diets. No moralizing food. No shame disguised as “discipline.” Just clarity, warmth, and right order so eating becomes nourishment again, not anesthesia.

Battle for vitality

We’ll dive into the real battle between virtue and vice, renewal and decay, divine order and chaos.

  • Eucharistic Adoration - You will be invited to practice weekly Holy Hour an enter into the silence of the Suffering Servant, Jesus

  • Naming the pattern - You will recognize what emotional eating really is, how it connects to wounds (unforgiveness, grief, self‑hatred, lack of trust)

  • Triggers, trauma, and “false comfort” - You will see how pain, stress, and isolation drive the “binge- restrict” or “pain–binge–restrict” loop.

  • Fasting rightly - You will dive deeper into the Catholic teaching on fasting and abstinence, and why those with disordered eating history may need alternative Lenten practices (prayer, almsgiving, acts of love) instead of food restriction.

  • Working with emotions in Christ - You will be encouraged to bring anger, grief, loneliness, and shame to Jesus instead of to food; emotional regulation skills framed as cooperation with grace

  • Confession, forgiveness, and freedom - You will understand how unforgiveness (of self and others) fuels emotional eating and self‑loathing; Confession and reconciliation as part of healing.

  • Spelt is the best grain for the human body: it is 100% absorbent, has all of the nine building amino acids needed for proper function, anti-carcinogen substances, many vitamins (including A, E, D, B1, B2, B6), and minerals (iron, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus) that other staple foods don’t have.

    Its structure has different protein and gluten than wheat and that’s why it is often well tolerated by those who are gluten intolerant. It builds up the immune system, is anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergic, lowers cholesterol, strengthens the neurological system and heart, fights the formulation of new cancer cells, and increases vitality and good mood.

    It is highly advisable to eliminate wheat and introduce spelt to all people who suffer from:

    • the weakened immune system, exhaustion

    • cancer and arthritis, including prevention measures

    • in high risk of cardiac arrest or stroke

    • in heart and circulatory diseases

    • lack of calcium absorption and getting seasonal infections

    • allergies

    • blood, kidneys, liver, intestines diseases; gallbladder stones; hemorrhoids, constipation, diarrheas

    • Crohn’s disease, metabolic-based illnesses

    • after taking long-term meds

    • depression, neurosis, mood swings

    • during fasting to cure and rebuild the body’s strength

  • Spelt is hard to modify yet there are attempts to do it. We advise to use only the ancient and purest kinds of spelt that are cultivated today:

    • Schwabenkorn

    • Steiners Roter Tiroler

    • Frankenkorn (Altgold x Rouquin)

    • Oberkulmer Rotkorn

    • Ostro

  • Vegetables:

    Fennel, celery (root and stems), beans, beets, carrots, parsnip (the root of parsley), onion, horseradish, pumpkin, and chickpeas

    Discouraged: potatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbages, mushrooms, leek.

    Fruit:

    Apples, chestnuts, almonds, cherries, sour cherries, quince, blackberries, red and black currant, raspberries, citruses, pears

    Discouraged: strawberries, peaches, plums

  • Dairy, meat, game, sea food.

    Mayo, margarine, canned foods.

    No smoked or deep fried foods.

    • Water (not ice cold, not hot)

    • Herbal teas (not black, green, or red - the best choices are fennel, mint, melissa, rose, nettle, sage) with lemon and bit of honey if needed

    • Spelt coffee

    • Spelt beer

    • Parsley wine and diluted wine (both require cooking wine for 5 min so alcohol mostly evaporates - recipe will be sent to you after you sign up)

    • Highly diluted vegetable and fruit juices

  • If you pick SPELT FAST (spelt, veggies and fruit) or REDUCTION FAST you will fast this way through the whole time and you may continue for a few weeks after to gain more benefits.

    If you will choose LIQUID (CURING) FAST you should include 5 -7 days of SPELT (spelt, veggies, fruit) FAST prep, 5-10 days of strict LIQUID FAST, and move back to SPELT FAST.
